Med Fit Culture is a physician-led practice focused on lifestyle medicine, functional medicine, and performance coaching. We help motivated people improve metabolic health, fitness, and resilience through evidence-based care and structured coaching.

Dr. Cook is a retired Navy physician and lifelong endurance athlete. He began coaching Ironman athletes in 2011 and has since guided a broader community—athletes and non-athletes alike—toward sustainable health change. His approach blends clinical training with real-world experience to meet you where you are and move you forward, step by step.

Medical Care

(CA/NV only):

Lifestyle & functional medicine consultations, prevention-focused care plans, lab interpretation, and medication management when appropriate.

Health Coaching (Nationwide):

Our 12-week Metabolic Reset and ongoing coaching for nutrition, activity, sleep, stress, and habit change (non-medical).

Performance Support:

Goal-aligned training structure and recovery strategies for endurance and high-performance lifestyles.

We don’t promise “cures” or guaranteed outcomes.

We offer clear plans, education, and follow-through.

How Care Is Delivered (Telehealth)

  • Visit Modality: Synchronous audio-video telehealth; two-way audio and secure messaging as clinically appropriate. Online questionnaires are not used alone to establish care.

  • Platforms: HIPAA-compliant Practice Better (EHR, portal, messaging) and DrFirst (e-prescribing).

  • Identity & Location: We verify identity and current physical location at each visit.

  • Consent: Telehealth informed consent is reviewed and electronically signed in the patient portal.

Prescribing & Pharmacy

E-Prescribing:

Medications are e-prescribed to the patient’s pharmacy of choice. We do not dispense or ship medications.

Controlled Substances:

Generally not prescribed; may be considered case-by-case when clinically appropriate and lawful in CA/NV, with required PDMP checks (CA CURES / NV PMP) and documentation. We do not manage chronic opioid therapy.

Prescriptions are issued only after CA/NV location verification and are sent to a pharmacy licensed to dispense in the patient’s state (CA or NV).

Privacy & Security

Messaging: PHI is handled through the secure portal; we don’t use unencrypted email/SMS for medical questions.

I’ve completed 10 IRONMAN finishes (including Kona), over 100 marathons/ultras, and 100+ century rides.
